About us and our growing practices:

Our farm is family run and has been in existence since the late 1700s. The fruit, vegetable and greenhouse aspect of the operation has been building since 1996. Previous to that, we were primarily a dairy farm. Ted, Dan and Nate King run the operation.

While we are not certified as organic, we do follow organic pest control practices as much as possible. Most of our pest control is done through the use of beneficial insects and OMRI (organic materials research institute) approved products.

All of our fruits and vegetables are hand picked, hand washed and hand packed. This significantly reduces bruising and waste product.

We eat what we grow so you can be sure that what you buy from me is safe.

March 2010

Well the two plant greenhouses are full already. Violas and pansies are almost ready for sale. We have many hanging baskets of houseplants that are full. The early cold hardy greens have been started and will be ready to transplant by the 15th or so.

The Hydroponic tomatoes are about eight inches tall and we should be picking them by late May.

The Cadman Plaza Saturday market begins in April. We are at Fort Greene on Saturdays now and at Dag Hammarskjold park on Wednesdays.

Grass fed beef continues to sell out quickly so it is best to reserve your cuts in advance.

The strawberries will be ready in June and the hydroponic tomatoes and lettuce will of course continue.

As always, we welcome input as to our products. If you have any thoughts on the items we grow, the way they are packaged or marketed or any other aspect, please feel free to email or call.

Our philosophy is to grow for our markets, as opposed to growing what we want and trying to find a market

Our plans are to continue with our CSA, markets in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Kingston and our Farm-to-School program.

God Bless and have a safe and merry Christmas.
